DESCEND TO ASCEND

Sometimes in Life, we must descend to Ascend. For example: a hot air balloon sometimes must go down to catch favorable winds in order to ascend to higher plateaus and altitude.

Goals: Sometimes with our own personal goals and endeavours we must step back. Reevaluate, Refocus and catch more favorable winds in different direction.

There may be other roads to our path of greatness but only if we try them. I would rather regret trying something and find out i was wrong, than regret not TRYING at ALL.... Have a good week everyone, start out with greatness...

Waco Miracle Match Marathon, brutal marathon that punishes you with major hills. The hills come just when fatique is setting in........, Beautiful set up. Last night several triathletes swam at the HUGULEY FITNESS CENTER. We all tried out our SWIM SPEED SKINS. I had on my Nineteen Frequency Speedskin (see above picture). My usual 100 yard time on a good day is 1:20 that is the fastest I have recorded. Last night in the Nineteen Frequency Speedskin, I recorded a 1:08, as documented by two people on the deck.. Nineteen Frequency Speedskin is awesome. So like all good swim research I did two more on my own and with me stopping the watch. 1:11 and 1:12. One of the other triathletes Nancy Henley knocked 10 seconds off of her 100. SWEEET...

It is done I copied travis brown when he used Sram Red with Sram XX on his mountain bike. Instead we (John Mc. from Fort Worth cycling, Josh from Ft Worth Cycling Fitness in Fort Worth) put Sram XX with a Sram XX cassette on my TREK TTX time trial bike, which has SRAM RED Integrated Shifters. Look at the pics. SWEETNESS, SO SWEET it is BITTER SWEET.

CorioVelo Athletes, followed the disciplined approach methodically, clicking off laps during the Texas Time Trials at Glen Rose.

Steve and Peggy Petty finished their first 24hour Texas Time Trial with a resounding victory.

Steve finished 2nd overall and Peggy finished 3rd overall. After the official results are released more to be published on the blog.

Swim Across Benbrook Lake

Swim Across Benbrook Lake. From Holiday Park to Longhorn Park Boat Ramp the distance by google is 1.44 miles. I swam from Holiday Park to Longhorn Park Boat Ramp(off of Dirks road) and came up with the distance of 1.55, the difference is due to swimming around the little peninsula at Holiday park. I had KAYAK crew support to watch out for jetskis and boats. It gets choppy toward the water pump. Total Swim 3.08 miles. Good 5k for Masters who want brush up for 5 k open water swims. Great Ironman, Triathlete Swim.

CorioVelo 10,000k Challenge.

Last year I after having talked to several athletes, cyclists , commuters etc. They all mentioned that it would be nice to have a challenging goal. A goal that you wouldnt have to go to a place to complete. A goal that you could count your everyday training. This is where the 10,000 km challenge emerged. 6,214 miles around that. Cycle, Walk, Run, Row anything human propulsion. The only thing not included is lifting weights. If it can count miles or you can count miles it counts. It is all on the honor system. Congratulations go to the following CorioVelo Athletes.

Matt Young who rode from Seattle to Fort Worth. We made sure his equipment was right , guessing the terrain and weather on the other hand, was a whole new ball game. He rode for Cystic Fibrosis.

Frank, Ironman Athlete finished 3rd in his division for the REDMAN IRON DISTANCE triathlon. Good Job Frank, Next year we will work on more numbers.

Scott S. Scott rode the Texas Time Trial 100 mile championship in 5 hrs 11 min. He was third but some major cramping on the last lap. (I have to research what went wrong on the nutrition and fuel) So Scott finished 6 th. Heavy competition. This was the National Championship for Ultra Marathon Cycling Association

By the way CorioVelo means hurricane wheel. You should be pedaling enough to produce hurricane force winds with your own power. Corio comes from Coriolis effect. Velo is french for wheel. Till the next entry.

The Degray Lake Half Ironman is upon us. This weekend the pilgramage continues as a host of athletes will go suffer in the heat. Last year , the heat index was well over 100. Look out for Eric to smash the course, Frank to burn up the course, Kelly to catch everyone on the bike and the run. Julie will be setting PR's on the bike and swim. The OX, well lets just say OX are for hard work. So I will just be working hard out there. Second short read for the blog.

This is my first blog on my blog. Kudos go out to my buddies Frank and Eric. See, Frank and I have a ride we do called the IRONGOAT. It is basically the Goatneck Ride(see Goatneck in Cleburne) plus another 40 or so miles. I am a 2 time IRONGOATER. Whereas as of last Saturday Frank is a 3 time IRONGOATER and Eric a 1st time IRONGOATER. I was going to do the ride but some bad salmon from a local restaurant gave me Montezuma's revenge. Short blog, but good enough for some good reading.
